2009 TEENS' TOP TEN ANNOUNCED

More than 11,000 teen voters chose Paper Towns as their favorite book in the 2009 Teens' Top Ten! The online poll took place from Aug. 24 through Sept. 18, with the winners announced during Teen Read Week by WWE Divas Brie Bella and Nikki Bella, with a special appearance by John Green. Go to our recent acquisitions page to see an alphabetical list of our newest graphic novels. If you have a feed reader like Bloglines, Google Reader, or My Yahoo, etc., click on the orange RSS box : and add it to your subscriptions.

TEENS' TOP TEN VOTING Aug. 24-Sept. 18

In the back corner of the New Canaan Library's teen area there is a large shelftop display of the 25 books that are nominated for the 2009 Teen's Top Ten award. Each book has a bright yellow label on the spine saying "2009 TTT nominee." If you are between the ages of 12 and 18, you can cast an online vote for your favorite between August 24th and September 18th.

Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Nominators are members of teen book groups in fifteen school and public libraries around the country.

BEACH BAG CONTEST!


There's still time to enter the TeenReads Beach Bag Contest -- it's open until June 25th. The prize is a beach bag full of 12 great beach books plus lots of other summer goodies. Not hard to enter -- just write a paragraph about which of the 12 books you'd most like to read and why. The TeenReads site also has lots of great book reviews, author interviews, and the "ultimate teen reading list" with 300 titles.

New Vampire Series to Start Off the Summer

A fifth TWILIGHT SAGA book???

The library recently got a request for Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. It's supposed to be a new book in the Twilight series, telling the beginning of the story from Edward's point of view instead of Bella's. When I looked around to see if I could order it, I discovered that the author started writing it but probably isn't going to finish it. However, she's posted the 12-chapter draft on her website -- take a look:

NEW STUFF, LATE HOURS, NUTMEG VOTING!

2. On three nights next week (NCHS midterm exam week) the Library will stay open until 10 pm for individual and group study. The late nights are Tuesday 1/20, Wednesday 1/21, and Thursday 1/22. The Library is closed for MLK Day on Monday 1/19.
